Our assignment was to use weebly.com and create a web page or a digital portfolio. The weebly site is very useful because it allows us to have a digital portfolio and anyone can view and probably might get interested. Having a webpage is beneficial for educators because it is like a resume online and potential employers can have access to it. It is also good because educators can communicate with each other and share ideas and concerns. I do plan to update this site because as I mentioned earlier it is good for educational purposes. I like how it is so easy to use. It was just a click and a drag away from publishing a finished piece. I did not need to copy and paste codes that was the most I liked about weebly and the fact that it is user friendly.

I think that everything went well and smoothly. The instructions on how to create my slideshare was so simple that children could easily create one. If I had the chance do this all over I would spend more time on my powerpoint and review the links and pictures if they will be visible for the audience. The only challenge I had was to create the links and make sure they were working properly other than that it was very fun and exciting. I learned a lot with this assignment. The most exciting thing I learned and will use in the future is how to create a hyperlink. 

Elluminate

Today our task was to go to different locations and meet online live using Elluminate. I learned a lot of new and cool sites that teachers could use in the class room. I just wish that more educators could be exposed to these different sites and integrate it into their classrooms. I liked the WolframAlpha website the most because the information is pretty accurate and she mentioned that the data is reliable. It's a good alternative because students do not have to go to class to participate and they could just type in a question in the chat box instead of interrupting the person talking. I like Elluminate because the whole idea that we could chat, share websites, and interact with other people all at once. The only downside to this website from my opinion is that it takes time to load videos or pictures may not show on other people's screen that we are interacting with.

Webquest

This week we were introduced to webquest. Webquests are used for students to do activities or research a specific topic on the world wide web. The software that I used to create my webquest was Zunal. I would rate this software a 10 because out of all the links that we were introduced to this was the easiest one to use. I liked that all the examples of other webquests were organized from subject to grade level. I also liked the fact that the template was already created and then there was a step by step procedure as to what we were suppose to put on that certain part of the webquest. I would use webquest for my students so they could do research and presentations. This would be very useful for students because they would know and experience that the web is a very powerful tool and that it could take them anywhere in the world. With the fact that today in age everything we do deals with technology this will allow students to be familiar with the web (if they are not).

Google Docs

Today we were introduced to collaborative softwares specifically to google docs and zoho. With google docs we were able to see our colleagues as well as ourselves work and edit work on the white board. On Zoho we were able to explore different applications that the software offered. One application that I particularily like was the zoho show. It is similar to powerpoint on microsoft but it has more features. We were able to edit a power point from a different computer without using a usb. COOL! We also chatted while editing. This software is very useful because if students had a project and they were not able to meet they could both access the powerpoint at the same time and edit each others work. I would use the sentence writing assignment in my class because it would be more convenient for students to do assignments becuase time will not be wasted. Using this software students will be able to just type in the correct grammar or punctuation for a given sentence instead of wasting time on erasing or concentrating on neatness.

Timelines

Today we were introduced to two different websites that showed us how to do a timeline online. The first website was the teach-nology and the second was the xtimeline website. At the teach-nology website we created our own timeline using our own history. At the xtimeline website we used computer history to formulate our timeline. I found this program interesting and new because I would do a timeline manually in the past. I would use this program in my class when I want my students to recall past events or introduce themselves. Students will be able to read other students timeline and know who and what they have been through. I would rate the software a 10 just because it is new to me and I have not seen other softwares like its kind but I would like more options or designs for the border of the timelines.
